Based on Hall Effect theory, gauss meter is a precise instrument used to measure the magnetic flux density of a magnetic material at a point in space. It contains hall probe and measuring instrument. The unit of magnetic field includes Tesla (T) and mill-Tesla (mT) or Gauss (Gs) and kilogauss (KGs). Conversion as follows:
1 T = 10,000 Gs
1 mT=10 Gs
1 Gs=1,000 Gs
1μT=10 mGs

Using hall probe as the magnetism induction element, different gauss meter will have different result at the same point of a magnet. Therefore it is very important to choose a right gauss meter and its hall probe based on different requirements.

Application:
1) The surface magnetic field measurement of the permanent magnet: the aim is to evaluate the consistency of magnetic property in a magnetized magnet after compared with standard sample data. Generally, the data is from the middle of magnet surface.
2) Air-gap magnetic field measurement: motors and electro-acoustic industries.
3) Residual magnetic measurements: to test demagnetization effectiveness.
4) Magnetic flux leakage measurement: speaker magnetic leakage measurements.
5) Environmental magnetic field detection

1. Magnetic field type: use DC gauss meter to test permanent magnet
2. Measuring range: choose gauss meter which has larger measuring range than tested item
3. Accuracy of measurement: resolution of the instrument, such as 1 Gs or 0.1Gs
4. Probe option: no requirement for measurement of surface magnetic field
5. Power supply mode: portable gauss meter uses batteries
6. Function option: polarity judging, portable and customized function
